About Colo-NESCO
The district was formed in the late 1980s when the Colo Community School District joined NESCO (Northeast Story County) which was made up of Zearing and McCallsburg. Together, the three communities united, and we are proud to call ourselves the Colo-NESCO Royals. PK-4 is housed in Zearing, and the district office and grades 5-12 are housed in Colo.
Facility Upgrades & Stats
In March of 2020, a 14-million dollar bond referendum was passed by voters in the district after several failed attempts. This building project is currently underway. This includes adding a handicap-accessible entrance and lobby area, new preschool classrooms, and an administrative office in the elementary building in Zearing. A complete remodel of the facilities is also underway in Colo. This will give Colo-NESCO top-notch facilities.
